About Us
The Lacomb Irrigation District was formed in the early 1930s and water rights for 1,600 acres were certificated in 1932. Today, our district expertly manages nearly 2,000 acres, all granted water rights by the Oregon Department of Water Resources, and boasts a membership of around 200 dedicated individuals.
Our primary water source is Crabtree Creek, which we tap at its junction with Green Mountain Creek, providing essential water distribution throughout the Lacomb region. Our irrigation season extends from late spring until the close of September.
In a significant development in 1986, we commissioned a hydroelectric facility with a capacity of 1 MWh, equipped with a distinct water proper permitting operation from November to June. The electricity generated is sold to the Pacific Power Corporation and integrated into their transmission network, ensuring wider distribution.
A dedicated five-member Board of Directors oversees the district's operations, while our workforce comprises four committed employees. Our administrative office is conveniently located at the intersection of Meridian and E. Lacomb Road. Our Powerhouse is accessed from Island Inn Rd. with frontage on Weyerhaeuser Corp.’s Snow Peak mainline.
As an Oregon ORS 545 Special District, the Lacomb Irrigation District proudly holds membership in both the Special Districts Association of Oregon (SDAO) and the Oregon Water Resources Congress (OWRC), further solidifying our commitment to serving our community and responsibly managing our water resources.
